ThinClient Version 6.0

Designed for the Enterprise

The C/BASE and C/BOOKS ThinClient is a state of the art Client/Server solution that incorporates a desktop Graphical Windows User Interface (PC) that is tightly coupled to a backend CONETIC Windows or Linux server. This new technology utilizes the standard C/BASE and C/BOOKS applications via a browser like -- Graphical Windows User Interface. The Client side contains a Graphical User Interface that is configured to exploit the server performance abilities, while utilizing the PC desktop for translation of output to a Windows style presentation.

"All processing is performed on the centralized server."

The advantage of the ThinClient is clearly in its reduction of cost of ownership, its scalability and it platform independence. Achieved by allowing Conetic application software to be supported, maintained, enhanced and developed on the centralized server, while utilizing standard C/BASE™4GL® development tools. Need more power, upgrade your server! It could be expected that a ThinClient system could pay for itself by the savings in technical support costs, when being compared to other Client/Server solutions.

Yesterday's character-based applications dressed up for today's user. Just imagine, your industrial strength, proven applications, running in a "State of the Art" Windows GUI desktop environment.

New in Version 6.0 ...

 NEW LOOK ...

The Thinclient have been given a new OUTLOOK TREE STYLE menu display. This new STYLE improves the visual presentation of module options. The result is increased employee production.

 Totally NEW Menus ...for C/Books

The C/Books HTML menus have been redesigned to improve the end-user experience. Module processes and functions have a better visual presentation. The NEW menus help guide the end-user thru the required processes & procedures.

 NEW Built-in Phone dialer ...

The Thinclient has the ability to automatically detect, and convert "phone numbers" to a "link/button" for fast dialing -- right from with in the Thinclient. Once dialed the software transfers the phone to the end-users extention. Note: This feature requires a phone systems that support SIP technology. Example:

NEW CSS AGENT - SIP Phone application...very powerful feature

The CSS AGENT is a new application that works in conjunction with the Thinclient. The CSS AGENT is a free standing executable that contains SIP Phone technology. Once started, the application listens for a phone call, upon receiving a call the application intercepts the call to collect the caller id information; then it transfers the call to the assigned extension. Mean while, in the background the application transfers the "phone number" to the Thinclient, and launchs a user defineable look up program used to match customers, vendors, and or contacts. If the look up program match several accounts -- a list of matching account will be listed. However, if it matchs only one vendor or customer - it will automatically launch and display that customer's or vendor's dashboard. The look up GRACE program has been designed to look for a 100% match first, if none are found, it falls back to match on the area code and prefix. Learn more.

SAVE ...

SAVE on training ... SAVE on porting exisitng C/BASE applications...
Go from our current character-based interface right into the GUI world without missing a beat. You've retained the same "look and feel" and gained all this new functionality. This makes it especially easy to operate the same system on different computers, increasing software portability even more. GUI features are also gained automatically, you can develop in a character-based world and move your application to GUI without a single change to the application.

As you can see, there's lots of reasons for us to be proud of our new Windows products. We knew that GUI was important, but we also knew that you need lots of functionality and power in your applications. So we packed our software with new GUI style features while keeping the reliability and power you expect from our products.

Blends the desktop ....

The ThinClient interface is a powerful desktop integration tool. It truly blends the desktop users tools/environment with server side C/BASE and C/BOOKS® data. Based on a "click and go" technology theory, the ThinClient delivers features such as:
  • Built-in Browser (enhanced)
  • Windows style Cascade menu
  • Built-in menu security
  • Built-in Notes & Memos
  • MS-Office Integration tools

Cascade style menu - The Windows Cascade style menu makes application navigation a breeze. All menu options are grouped by category, and module. A side from ease of use, the menu is used to manage/control user access. The user access is managed via the "ThinClient Administrator". The ThinClient Administrator provides a simple method for allowing or denying access for an identifed user to specific modules and or menu. Users passwords control module and function access.

Built-in Web Browser - The new built-in web browser delivers a "totally" new, yet unlimited amount of options to Conetic users. The enhanced IE browser provides a method for today's business(es) to improve communication, while also improving end-user production. Corporate Web Pages can be displayed on startup of the system, and used to promote new corporate information about products or services. Web style pages can be used as "menus" to guide and explain a new or existing application to an end-user. With such a feature, bulky unused end-user guides are quickly a thing of the passed. Secure Web style reports, data entry forms can be created without the need for a web server. Powerful dynamic html style reports with "drilldown" functionally are now a reality.

Transparent desktop links - New desktop integration has been provided with in the product. Allowing organization to stream-line end-user functions; thus improving end-user production. For example: The End-users menu can be configured to generate any web style report, and immediately displayed it in Excel or Word. No need for a special tools to export data. No need to import delimited files. No need to install and train end-users of how to access database tables using ODBC style tools. Just click and go!

Simple yet powerful tools - As a bi-product of the new interface, Conetic has created a series of new tools in order to exploit the environment. Tools like:
  • Visual Grace Editor - Designed to enhance and improve programmers performance in modifying and or creating Grace style reports. This new Windows based editor eliminates the need for a report programmer to learn unix and windows editors in order to write or enhance any of the existing Grace reports. The program contains a series of "wizards" that aid the programmer in using Grace functions. A new "Import Html" wizard makes the creation of html style reports payless.
  • NetVAL - is a Network (enabled) Visual Authoring Language delivers to Version 5 users a WYSIWYG visual approach to new report development. The intuitive graphical REPORT EDITOR allows even a novice user to become productive quickly. Being user friendly, every input parameter possesses a default value. The advanced features of VAL enable the user in the generation of sophisticated reports. Once designed, reports can be deployed on the end-users workstations. Basic database knowledge is required.
  • C/BASEX - is a new activeX "network enable" library. Designed to enable programmers to use simpler development tools like "Visual Basic", "Borland C++", and "MS Visual C++". This new library significantly reduces the amount of code required to access the C/BASE RMS engine. The fact that the library is "network enable" makes it easy to create client/server applications.
